VKB Group is currently recruiting for a General Worker to join its Grain Division in Vrede, Free State. This is a permanent, entry-level opportunity within one of South Africa’s established agricultural companies.

About the Role

The General Worker at the silo supports daily silo operations by assisting with material handling, cleaning, basic maintenance, and compliance with safety procedures. The role ensures the smooth loading, unloading, storage, and movement of materials while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

This is a hands-on operational role within a grain handling and storage environment. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining operational efficiency while ensuring safety standards are upheld at all times.

Key Responsibilities

The General Worker is responsible for maintaining general tidiness within the silo and surrounding premises.

Cleaning duties form part of daily responsibilities to ensure hygiene and safety standards are met.

The role includes assisting customers and suppliers with loading and offloading stock in accordance with company policies and procedures.

General housekeeping of the premises must be carried out regularly.

Stock control support may be required as part of daily operational tasks.

The General Worker will perform ad hoc duties as assigned from time to time to support operational needs.

Providing customer service support during loading and offloading activities is required.

The position demands consistent contribution to the effective functioning of the silo and grain operations.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have completed Grade 12 or hold an NQF Level 4 qualification.

Candidates must be physically fit and able to perform hard manual labour.

The ability to constantly add value to the function of the job is essential.

Previous experience in industrial, agricultural, or construction environments will be advantageous but is not mandatory.

Applicants must be willing to work at heights and in confined spaces, with training provided where necessary.

Candidates must be able to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

A strong awareness of safety rules and procedures is required.
