This opportunity is ideal for a registered pharmacist who is passionate about pharmaceutical care, patient safety, and retail pharmacy excellence within a high-volume, customer-centric healthcare environment.

The role is responsible for the full provision of pharmaceutical care by taking accountability for patients’ medicine-related needs and ensuring that these needs are met in line with legislative requirements, professional standards, and Dis-Chem’s operational policies. About the Role

The Pharmacist is accountable for evaluating, dispensing, and managing medicines while ensuring compliance with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC), the Medicines Act, and Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) standards. The role focuses on patient-centred care, professional oversight of dispensary activities, and collaboration with the Dispensary Manager to ensure operational efficiency, compliance, and quality service delivery.

The Pharmacist works closely with patients, medical aid schemes, healthcare professionals, and internal teams to ensure safe, effective, and appropriate medicine use. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the role includes supervision, stock control, administrative accuracy, and adherence to Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures.

The Pharmacist must keep abreast of changes in medical aid procedures and requirements for claims and dispensing. Responsibilities include processing all paperwork for accurate submission of medical aid claims, correcting rejected scripts, and ensuring authorisation of chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication.
