About the Role

The Business Process Engineer is accountable for supporting the vision and strategy of assigned business units by enhancing their capability through the development and implementation of innovative business processes and operating models.

The role focuses on identifying process improvement opportunities that enhance business performance, improve client experience, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The Business Process Engineer ensures that improvements deliver tangible business benefits through structured measurement of success and continuous evaluation.

This role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership to translate strategic objectives into practical, scalable, and sustainable process solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Business Process Design and Improvement

The successful candidate will analyse existing business processes, systems, and workflows to identify inefficiencies, risks, and improvement opportunities. This includes designing and implementing optimised processes that align with business strategies, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.

The role involves applying structured methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, TOC, and business improvement frameworks to ensure process excellence.

Data Analysis and Insight Generation

The Business Process Engineer will use data analytics to support decision-making, identify trends, and evaluate process performance. This includes analysing large data sets, interpreting results, and providing actionable insights to stakeholders.

Strong analytical capability is essential to measure the effectiveness of implemented solutions and track business benefits.

Operating Model and Business Case Development

Minimum Requirements

Candidates applying for this role must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 National Certificate or Vocational

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering – General

Experience and Professional Background

  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in processing systems, processes, procedures, and operational support within banking or financial services

  • Proven experience in data analytics, business model design, business process development, or process improvement

  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, TOC, Agile, or business improvement methodologies

Experience (Ideal or Preferred)

  • 4+ years’ experience in a similar environment

  • Strategic business case development experience

  • Translating divisional strategies and regulatory requirements into operating models

  • Management or leadership exposure
