About the Role
The Stock Controller – Mechanical / Workshop is accountable for the day-to-day management of workshop inventory, including spare parts, consumables, and mechanical equipment. The role focuses on maintaining accurate stock records, controlling stock movement, conducting regular stock takes, and ensuring that parts are available to support maintenance and repair operations.
This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical motor vehicle parts, workshop workflows, and inventory management systems. The Stock Controller works closely with workshop staff, suppliers, service advisors, and management to ensure that stock processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with operational needs.
The role also involves compiling accurate quotations for mechanical repairs, monitoring profit margins on parts, and supporting sound business decisions through accurate inventory data.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Control and Stock Accuracy
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing daily and weekly cycle counts, managing monthly stock takes, and reconciling physical stock with system records. This includes identifying discrepancies, investigating variances, and implementing corrective actions to maintain stock accuracy.
Accurate inventory control is critical to ensuring workshop productivity, minimising downtime, and maintaining financial integrity.
Receipting, Dispatch, and Stock Movement
The Stock Controller will receive, inspect, and capture incoming mechanical goods against purchase orders. This includes checking quantities, inspecting goods for damage, and ensuring correct documentation before items are receipted into the system.
The role also involves ensuring that outgoing items are packed correctly, dispatched accurately, and recorded properly to maintain traceability and accountability throughout the stock movement process.
Workshop and Supplier Liaison
