Safair Operations, trading as FlySafair, is recruiting a detail-oriented and dependable Dispatch Assistant to join its logistics team on a permanent basis at the Head Office in Bonaero Park, Johannesburg. This role is ideal for a warehousing professional with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively within a regulated aviation environment.
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the correct handling, packing, tracking, and dispatch of aircraft spares while maintaining strict compliance with company procedures and audit requirements.
About the Role
The Dispatch Assistant is responsible for the inspection, packing, and movement of aircraft spares, with a strong focus on unserviceable parts management. The role requires close coordination with internal departments and external shipping partners to ensure accurate system updates, safe handling of parts, and timely dispatch of shipments.
This position operates in a 24-hour environment and requires flexibility to work shifts and overtime as operationally required.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection and Handling of Unserviceable Spares
The successful candidate will inspect all unserviceable spares to ensure they are correctly flushed and prepared for shipment before being inducted into the warehouse. All accompanying paperwork must be reviewed to confirm completeness prior to system induction.
Warehouse Packing and Stock Control
The role includes correctly packing spares onto shelves to prevent damage and conducting daily stock checks on all items marked as unserviceable in the SAM system. Accuracy in stock placement and handling is essential.
System Updates and Planning Coordination
You will work closely with the planning department to ensure all required movements are accurately captured and executed on the SAM system. Updating stock records and resolving discrepancies form a core part of the role.
Dispatch, Shipping, and Stakeholder Communication
The Dispatch Assistant will coordinate with shipping companies to arrange the pickup and delivery of cargo, communicate with internal departments to ensure timely shipments, and provide daily feedback to internal and external stakeholders.
Audit Readiness and Compliance
Maintaining the dispatch area in a constant state of audit readiness is essential. The role requires strict adherence to procedures, standards, and aviation compliance requirements at all times.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent qualification

Minimum 1–2 years’ warehousing experience

Willingness to work overtime when required
