Unitrans is offering a permanent Stock-Stores Controller opportunity within the Chemicals Division at the Central Workshop Tulisa Park in Tulisa Park, Gauteng. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and organised professional with a solid understanding of supply chain, warehousing, and distribution, particularly within pallet and stock control environments.

The position plays a critical role in managing pallet movements, reducing loss and damage, and ensuring accurate stock control through structured pallet management systems and disciplined administrative processes.


About the Role

The Stock-Stores Controller is responsible for coordinating and facilitating stock movement through the implementation and management of pallet control systems. The role ensures full costing control of pallets, accurate tracking of pallet pools, and compliance with internal stock control procedures.

This position also oversees the clerical and documentation aspects of the stores function, ensuring that all records relating to ordering, dispatch, receiving, and security are accurate, complete, and properly maintained.


Key Responsibilities

Pallet Pool and Stock Control Management

The successful candidate will manage the existing pallet pool and implement effective pallet management system tools to track, coordinate, and ship pallets in line with operational requirements. This includes overseeing accurate pallet count systems to reduce shrinkage, loss, and financial exposure.

Daily, weekly, and exception-based pallet reports must be produced and submitted to management.


Documentation and Data Control

A core responsibility includes preparing, compiling, sorting, and verifying source documents for data entry. All delivery, receiving, dispatch, and security documentation must be accurately matched and checked for completeness and correctness.

The role requires correcting data discrepancies, obtaining missing information, and rearranging data where necessary to ensure system accuracy.


Reporting and Reconciliation

The Stock-Stores Controller will produce daily outstanding pallet summary reports, daily empty and broken pallet reports, and weekly pallet counts with supporting count sheets. All pallet account disputes must be reviewed and resolved on a daily basis.


Customer and Stakeholder Engagement

The role involves handling customer enquiries and complaints both telephonically and in writing. This includes researching required information, delivering pallet outstanding summaries, persuading customers to return outstanding pallets, and maintaining accurate customer databases.


Records Management and Compliance

Responsibilities include storing completed documents in designated locations, maintaining accurate activity records, responding to information requests, and ensuring compliance with data integrity and security policies. Office equipment and stationery supplies must also be maintained.


Minimum Requirements

Candidates applying for this position must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

  • Understanding of Supply Chain, Warehousing, and Distribution

  • Knowledge of Full CHEP Pallet Function

  • Higher Certificate (advantageous)


Experience and Professional Background

This role is suited to candidates with experience in stores control, stock administration, pallet management, or warehouse operations. Exposure to pallet reconciliation, customer account management, and operational reporting will be advantageous.
