The Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Administration Clerk (DRCS), based at the Land Court in Randburg. This post is suitable for entry-level candidates and plays a critical role in supporting court recording and administrative functions.

The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement.


Salary

R228 321 – R268 950 per annum (Level 05)


Duty Station

  • Land Court: Randburg


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 certificate or equivalent

  • No previous work experience required

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Good interpersonal and public relations skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Added Advantage

  • Experience in court administration or court-related functions, particularly relating to court recordings

⚠️ All shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a pre-entry practical exercise as part of the assessment process to determine suitability for the post based on technical and generic requirements.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Checking the readiness of the court prior to court proceedings

  • Testing the CRT (Court Recording Technology) machine for circuit and local courts and reporting any detected faults

  • Capturing cases set down on the CRT machine and in the court book (J406)

  • Pre-scheduling cases prior to the commencement of court proceedings

  • Recording court proceedings according to the level of court

  • Capturing party details per court appearance and adding annotations related to the case type

  • Pausing, resuming, and stopping recordings during court sessions and breaks

  • Setting up and operating equipment for testifying in the Children’s Court

  • Annotating postponed cases

  • Conducting regular data backups and transferring court recordings weekly

  • Monitoring accurate recordings using headphones

  • Attending to playback requests to verify court orders and downloading recordings to CD or USB

  • Retrieving, downloading, and playing back recordings on request to detect discrepancies

  • Immediately informing the Judge of any discrepancies detected

  • Filing and checking audio CDs in the strong room / CRT office

  • Submitting work completed at circuit courts immediately upon return

  • Updating backup copies of audio CDs

  • Downloading CDs for transcription for the running record

  • Responding to queries relating to court recordings

  • Arranging own travel to circuit courts in advance
