Impact HR is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Business Development Manager – Warehousing and Distribution to join its operations in Johannesburg, Gauteng, on a permanent basis. The position plays a critical role in expanding the company’s footprint within the warehouse and distribution sector, through strategic lead generation, solution design, market intelligence, and new business acquisition.
About the Role
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving growth and revenue expansion within the Warehouse and Distribution Division. The role focuses on identifying new market opportunities, developing customer-centric supply chain solutions, and building strong business cases that demonstrate clear financial and operational value.
This position requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical capability, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to collaborate closely with internal operations teams to ensure solution feasibility and successful implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development and Sales Growth
The successful candidate will identify, generate, and qualify new business leads within the warehousing and distribution sector. This includes managing a comprehensive sales pipeline, presenting monthly new-lead reports to senior management, and achieving growth targets aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.
The role requires the development of compelling business cases that clearly articulate value propositions and support decision-making by clients and internal stakeholders.
Solution Design and Client Value Creation
A core responsibility of the role is the development of innovative, customer-centric supply chain solutions that optimise client value chains from post-production through to delivery execution.
The Business Development Manager will work closely with operations teams to ensure that proposed solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned with operational capabilities.
Market Intelligence and Data Analysis
The role includes conducting detailed market and competitor analyses, monitoring industry trends, and identifying emerging growth opportunities. Regular market intelligence reports must be prepared to support strategic planning and decision-making.
The position also involves tracking project status, monitoring performance against budget, and reporting on revenue growth indicators.
Reporting and Performance Management
The Business Development Manager will prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports for the Head of Department. These reports will include sales activity, pipeline status, growth progress, and strategic insights.
Strong reporting discipline is essential to ensure visibility of performance and alignment with business objectives.
Compliance and Operational Oversight
The role requires strict adherence to SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) standards in all business development activities. The successful candidate must ensure that organisational compliance is maintained at all times.
Ongoing collaboration with internal operational teams is required to ensure that solutions are implemented correctly and deliver the intended outcomes.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

BCom Logistics or an equivalent qualification

Valid driver’s licence

8–10 years’ experience in a similar role within the supply chain, warehousing, or distribution solutions environment

Extensive experience in new business development with a strong track record of opportunity identification and solution initiation

Proven ability to design customised supply chain solutions that enhance value chain performance
