Campus Facilities and Operations Opportunity at IIE Rosebank College

ADvTECH, through its higher education institution IIE Rosebank College, is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Facilities Coordinator based at the RC Witbank campus in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga. This is a permanent position designed for a technically skilled and organised professional with a strong background in facilities management, building maintenance, and health and safety compliance.

This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys hands-on work, coordinating contractors, and ensuring that campus infrastructure remains safe, functional, and compliant in support of a positive learning and working environment.

About the Role

The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for the effective management, maintenance, and day-to-day operation of campus facilities. The role supports staff, students, and visitors by ensuring that buildings, equipment, and surrounding areas are maintained to a high standard of safety, functionality, and compliance.

This position requires a proactive and practical individual who can balance hands-on maintenance oversight with administrative reporting, contractor coordination, and health and safety responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Facilities Maintenance and Handyman Coordination

The Facilities Coordinator oversees handyman schedules and attendance, reporting any absences and ensuring adequate coverage at all times. Regular inspections of campus buildings, equipment, and facilities are conducted to identify maintenance needs early and prevent operational disruptions.

The role includes performing preventative maintenance, responding promptly to logged maintenance tickets, and assessing appliances such as microwaves, refrigerators, stoves, and ovens for performance or safety issues. The coordinator supports external contractors during repairs and ensures that all work is carried out according to required standards, with safety always prioritised.

Maintenance Stock Control and Inventory Management

You will be responsible for tracking tools and equipment, conducting routine toolbox inspections, and maintaining accurate inventory records. Any loss, misuse, or theft of tools or materials must be reported immediately. The role also involves advising management on stock requirements to ensure maintenance tasks can be completed efficiently and without delays.

Health and Safety Compliance

A key function of the role is ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act. This includes conducting regular safety checks on equipment, signage, and work areas, maintaining detailed inspection records, and supporting health, safety, and environmental initiatives across campus. The Facilities Coordinator plays an active role in creating a safe environment for all campus users.

Event and Venue Set-Ups

The role supports campus events by assisting with venue and furniture set-ups, sometimes involving heavy lifting with appropriate assistance. After events, all furniture and equipment must be returned to their original positions. Coordination with internal suppliers ensures that event-related deadlines are met efficiently.

Office and Furniture Relocations

You will assist with the relocation of furniture, files, and equipment as required, as well as carry out minor repairs such as replacing pin boards, whiteboards, and frames. These activities support smooth campus operations and space optimisation.

Administration and Reporting

The Facilities Coordinator captures all facility and maintenance activities on the in-house system and compiles reports for management. The role includes supervising junior staff where applicable and assisting external contractors during on-site work.
