About the Role
The Office Cleaner will play a critical role in supporting GALXBOY’s daily office operations by ensuring that all office spaces are kept clean, safe, and presentable at all times. The position focuses on routine cleaning, hygiene maintenance, and general housekeeping across offices, meeting rooms, restrooms, kitchens, and common areas.
This role requires consistency, physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while adhering to health and safety standards. The Office Cleaner is expected to carry out duties with minimal disruption to staff and to handle confidential areas with discretion and respect.
Key Responsibilities
General Cleaning and Housekeeping
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining overall cleanliness throughout the office environment. This includes ensuring that cleaning tools and equipment are properly maintained, safely stored, and used correctly at all times. Health and safety regulations must be followed strictly, particularly when handling and storing cleaning chemicals.
Any maintenance issues, damages, or potential safety hazards identified during cleaning must be reported immediately to the Office Administrator. The Office Cleaner is expected to uphold confidentiality at all times and demonstrate respect for company property and workspaces.
Daily Cleaning Duties
Daily responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors across all office areas. The Office Cleaner must dust and wipe desks, chairs, windowsills, office equipment, and other surfaces to maintain a consistently clean and professional working environment.
Waste bins must be emptied regularly, and liners replaced as required. Restrooms must be cleaned and sanitised daily, including replenishing essential supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. High-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and shared equipment must be wiped and disinfected frequently.
The role also includes maintaining cleanliness in kitchen and canteen areas, including washing dishes, wiping countertops, and ensuring shared spaces remain hygienic and organised.
Maintenance and Upkeep
The Office Cleaner will monitor cleanliness across all high-traffic and shared areas and report any damage or breakages to furniture, fixtures, or equipment without delay. The role involves identifying facility repair needs and logging potential hazards to support a safe working environment.
Supplies and Inventory Management
The position includes responsibility for tracking cleaning and bathroom supply levels and ensuring timely restocking. The Office Cleaner must keep a register of cleaning materials used and submit reports monthly or as required to support procurement planning.
All cleaning materials and chemicals must be stored safely and in accordance with health and safety guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure compliance.
Support and Coordination
The Office Cleaner must follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules accurately and complete tasks with accountability and efficiency. Duties should be carried out with minimal disruption to business operations.
The role requires cooperation with the Office Administrator and the ability to assist with office events, meetings, or urgent cleaning requirements when needed. Confidential areas must be handled with care, discretion, and professionalism.
Weekly and Periodic Cleaning
Weekly and periodic duties include cleaning windows, blinds, and glass partitions, deep-cleaning carpets and upholstery, polishing furniture and fixtures, and restocking cleaning materials. The Office Cleaner must notify the Office Manager when supplies are running low to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Grade 12 qualification (preferred)

Previous experience as an office cleaner or in a similar housekeeping role will be advantageous

Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision

Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safe handling procedures
