Purpose of the Role
The Handyman is responsible for ensuring the operational integrity of the buildingโs infrastructure. This includes performing regular inspections, executing minor repairs, and coordinating with specialized subcontractors. Your goal is to provide a safe and efficient working environment through proactive maintenance, ensuring that all service delivery meets the high-tech requirements of the Huawei account.
Key Job Responsibilities
1. Infrastructure Maintenance & Repair
-
Electrical & Lighting: Repair and maintain interior and exterior lighting systems and address minor electrical faults.

Plumbing: Handle general plumbing repairs, including leaks, taps, and drainage issues.

Carpentry & Fixtures: Perform carpentry tasks such as door repairs, lock replacements, and maintenance of office fixtures and furniture.

Emergency Response: Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and client queries to minimize downtime.
2. Inspections & Compliance

Reporting: Conduct regular building inspections, identify potential hazards or maintenance gaps, and log issues accurately.

Safety Standards: Ensure all work is performed in strict compliance with health and safety regulations (OHS Act).

Subcontractor Support: Support and monitor the work of external subcontractors to ensure they adhere to site safety and quality standards.
3. Workshop & Tool Management

Inventory: Maintain an organized workshop and ensure all hand and power tools are in good working condition.

Asset Care: Take responsibility for the security and maintenance of company-issued equipment and technical materials.
4. Administration & Client Service

Work Orders: Complete all work orders and maintenance reports accurately using digital or manual logging systems.

Communication: Maintain a professional and resilient attitude when dealing with client requests, escalating complex technical issues to the Facilities Manager when necessary.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Qualifications
-
Minimum Requirement: Matric (Grade 12).
-
Advantageous: NQF Level 4 technical qualification (e.g., N3 in Electrical or Plumbing).
Experience & Technical Skills
-
Industry Experience: 2โ5 years of experience in facilities management or building maintenance.

Tool Proficiency: Skilled in the safe use of various hand and power tools.

Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of commercial plumbing, electrical systems, and carpentry.
