Role Summary
The Food Service Assistant is a versatile role designed to support both front-of-house and back-of-house operations. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with food production, ensuring that all activities are carried out in strict accordance with Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations. This role requires a high degree of flexibility and a proactive mindset to provide general support where it is most needed, ensuring the efficient running of our food solution contracts.
Key Work Output and Accountabilities
1. Food Production & Kitchen Support

Preparation: Perform a variety of tasks associated with daily food production, including basic food preparation and ingredient staging.

Safety Compliance: Execute all tasks with due regard to current Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations to ensure a zero-harm environment.

Back-of-House Support: Provide essential support to the culinary team, ensuring the kitchen environment remains organized and compliant with HACCP standards.
2. Front of House & Customer Excellence

Service Delivery: Engage in front-of-house services, ensuring a professional and welcoming atmosphere for all clients and customers.

Customer Service: Leverage your communication skills to attend to customer requests and enhance the overall service experience.

Service Standards: Maintain the highest levels of service quality, reflecting Empact Group’s commitment to world-class hospitality.
3. Operational Support & Hygiene

General Assistance: Provide versatile support across all areas of the unit as required by the Food Service Manager.

Personal Hygiene: Take immense pride in personal appearance and maintain exemplary hygiene standards, essential for a food-handling environment.

Requirements & Competencies
Education & Experience

Minimum Education: Matric (Grade 12) is essential.

Core Experience: Working experience in the Hospitality Industry is essential.

Preferred Qualification: A qualification in Food and Beverage or Culinary Arts would be a significant advantage.

Service Background: Previous customer service experience is highly beneficial.
