Empact Group is seeking a dedicated Ward Hostess to join our Food Solutions team in Cape Town. This role is more than just food service; it is about creating a comforting and professional experience for patients and clients during their stay. Role Summary

The Ward Hostess reports directly to the Unit Manager and serves as the primary hospitality link within the ward environment. You will be responsible for ensuring that all food and beverage service areas are meticulously maintained, fully stocked, and compliant with hygiene standards. Your goal is to serve meals and refreshments in a timely manner while proactively attending to patient requests, ensuring their dietary needs are met with a friendly and professional touch.

Key Work Output and Accountabilities

1. Patient-Centric Service Delivery

  • Professional Interaction: Provide a friendly, professional, and empathetic service to all patients, clients, and medical staff.

  • Timely Service: Ensure all food and beverages are served within the designated timeframes to maintain optimal food quality and temperature.

  • Request Management: Proactively attend to customer and patient requests to ensure a positive and supportive customer experience.

2. Operational & Stock Management

  • Inventory Control: Take full responsibility for ensuring that all beverage stations and food service areas are fully stocked throughout your shift.

  • Hygiene & Tidiness: Maintain a clean, organized, and tidy working environment, adhering to the strict sanitization protocols required in a healthcare setting.

  • Unit Support: Assist the Unit Manager in various operational tasks to support the overall efficiency of the food solutions team.

3. Excellence & Compliance

  • Policy Adherence: Operate within all Company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure zero-harm and high-quality service.

  • Performance Standards: Contribute to the unit’s financial performance by practicing portion control and minimizing waste.

  • Objectives: Work diligently to achieve company and client objectives regarding operational excellence and patient satisfaction.

Requirements & Competencies

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Education: Matric (Grade 12).

  • Core Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar Ward Hostess or hospitality role within a healthcare or corporate environment.

  • Industry Exposure: Proven working experience in the Hospitality Industry is essential.

  • Customer Service: Demonstrated success in a customer-facing role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal communication skills and a friendly demeanor.

  • Mathematical Ability: Knowledge of basic mathematics for inventory counting and portioning.

  • Analytical Skills: Good analytical and problem-solving skills to handle service-related challenges efficiently.

  • Professionalism: High standards of personal hygiene and professional conduct.
