Role Summary

The Ward Hostess serves as a vital link between the kitchen and the ward, reporting directly to the Unit Manager. You will be responsible for ensuring that all food and beverage service areas are fully stocked and maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and tidiness. Your primary goal is to serve food and drinks in a timely manner while attending to customer requests with empathy and professionalism, ensuring that every patient or client enjoys exceptional service.

Key Work Output and Accountabilities

1. Professional Service Delivery

Customer Care: Provide a friendly, professional, and empathetic service to all patients, clients, and visitors.
Service Efficiency: Serve all food and beverages within specified timeframes to ensure products are fresh and temperatures are maintained.
Inquiry Handling: Proactively attend to customer requests and queries to enhance their overall experience within the facility.

2. Operational Excellence

Stock Management: Take full responsibility for ensuring that all food and beverage service points are fully stocked throughout the shift.
Environment Maintenance: Keep the working environment, service trolleys, and beverage stations clean, tidy, and compliant with hygiene standards.
Support: Assist the Unit Manager in various operational areas to ensure the smooth running of the catering unit.

3. Performance & Compliance

Standards Adherence: Excel in operational excellence by following all Company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Client Satisfaction: Work towards achieving company and client objectives by maximizing customer satisfaction levels.
Financial Integrity: Assist in minimizing waste and ensuring portion control to support the unit’s financial performance.

Requirements & Competencies

Education & Experience

Minimum Education: Matric (Grade 12).
Core Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar Ward Hostess or Food Service Assistant role.
Industry Exposure: Proven working experience in a Hospitality or Healthcare environment.
Customer Service: Demonstrated experience in high-level customer service.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse groups of people.
Numerical Ability: Knowledge of basic mathematics for portioning and stock counts.
Analytical Skills: Good analytical skills to solve minor service issues on the spot.
Personal Attributes: Friendly, organized, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
