Purpose of the Role

The Packer is a vital part of the production line, ensuring that our beverages are correctly packaged, labeled, and prepared for distribution. You will be responsible for maintaining the flow of the production line while adhering to strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). This role requires precision, physical stamina, and a proactive approach to food safety and workplace housekeeping.

Key Job Responsibilities

1. End-of-Line Packaging & Palletizing

Crate Packing: Efficiently pack cooled beverage products into crates according to specific size and quantity requirements.
Palletizing: Neatly stack completed crates onto pallets, ensuring stability for transport and storage.
Product Inspection: Remove any defective products or damaged materials from the line to ensure only top-quality goods reach our customers.

2. Quality & Label Verification

Verification: Carefully verify “Best Before” dates and label stickers to ensure all product information is accurate and legible.
Planning: Check the daily production planning schedule to ensure the correct products are being packed on your assigned line.

3. Warehouse & Inventory Control

FIFO Implementation: Follow First-In-First-Out (FIFO) principles for stock rotation to ensure product freshness.
Stock Accuracy: Assist with cycle counting and stock reconciliation within the storage area.
Storage Control: Maintain control over the storage area to prevent clutter and ensure efficient stock movement.

4. Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Standards

Good Manufacturing Practices: Strictly follow GMP guidelines, including wearing the correct PPE in designated areas.
Safety Participation: Attend and actively participate in company safety programs and follow all established safety guidelines, including confined space safety.
Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized workspace (5S) to prevent accidents and ensure food safety.
Reporting: Immediately report any food safety, quality, or mechanical issues to management.

Minimum Requirements

Education & Qualifications

Minimum Requirement: Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent qualification.

Experience & Knowledge

Manufacturing Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
Shift Work: Willingness and ability to work shifts as required by the production schedule.

Physical Fitness: Ability to handle repetitive packing tasks and the manual handling of crates and pallets.
