Role Summary
The Cashier is responsible for the efficient administration and control of all cash and card transactions within the retail shop. This role goes beyond simple point-of-sale duties; it requires a detail-oriented professional who can manage receipts, allocations, and daily banking while providing a high standard of client service. You will act as a guardian of the branch’s frontline financial integrity, ensuring that every payment is processed accurately and every customer leaves satisfied.
Key Work Output and Accountabilities
1. Point of Sale & Transactional Control

Paypoint Sales: Accurately ring up products and process sales for walk-in customers using our retail software.

Payment Processing: Handle cash and card transactions with meticulous care, ensuring that receipts from customers are processed and allocated correctly.

Back Office Integration: Manage card customer receipts and complete essential back-office tasks to ensure financial records are synchronized.
2. Financial Administration & Banking

Banking Procedures: Responsible for the daily banking of all cheques and cash, ensuring that physical funds match system records exactly.

Accuracy & Friendly Service: Maintain a high level of numerical accuracy while delivering fast and energetic service to keep queues moving efficiently.
3. Customer Excellence & Conflict Handling

Client Service: Act as a brand ambassador, offering friendly and helpful assistance to all clients.

Conflict Management: Utilize professional conflict-handling skills to resolve any customer queries or payment discrepancies at the frontline.
Requirements & Competencies
Education & Experience

Minimum Education: Grade 12 or NQF 4.

Digital Literacy: Must be computer literate in the Microsoft Office suite.

Experience: Previous experience in a retail cashiering or financial administration role will serve as a strong recommendation.
Core Skills

Numerical Ability: High level of numeracy is essential for handling cash and daily banking reconciliations.
