Position Overview

Post Title: Psychometrist / Registered Counsellor
Reference Number: HR4/4/08/141
Salary (OSD):

  • Grade 1: R712,599 – R789,489 per annum

  • Grade 2: R811,662 – R899,085 per annum

  • Grade 3: R916,437 – R1,014,705 per annum

This position offers a professional and rewarding environment to provide technical support, employment counselling services, and psychometric assessments across labour centres in the Northern Cape.


Minimum Requirements

  • Qualification:

    • Four-year B-Psych degree / Honours degree in Psychology / Honours degree in Industrial Psychology

    • Registration with HPCSA as Psychometrist or Registered Counsellor (Independent Practice)

  • Experience:

    • Grade 1: 0 years

    • Grade 2: 8 years

    • Grade 3: 16 years

  • Knowledge:

    • International Labour Organisation Conventions

    • Financial Management

    • Human Resource Management

    • Public Service Act

    • Skills Development Act

    • Unemployment Insurance Act

    • Health Professions Act

    • Employment Equity Act

    • COIDA and POPI Act

  • Skills:

    • Planning and organizing

    • Effective communication (verbal and written)

    • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    • Analytical and report writing skills

    • Presentation, leadership, networking, and interpersonal skills


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to labour centres in delivering Employment Counselling services

  • Facilitate the referral of job seekers to relevant employment services and labour market interventions

  • Co‑ordinate and disseminate career and labour market information to labour centres

  • Establish and maintain relationships between Employment Counsellors and relevant organizations

  • Co‑ordinate psychometric assessments and supervise administrative personnel

  • Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and professional standards in the delivery of employment counselling services
