Role Summary

The Receiving Clerk is responsible for the critical first step in our supply chain: ensuring that stock entering the branch is accurately received, recorded, and controlled. You will act as a gatekeeper for our inventory, managing both receipts and returns with meticulous attention to detail. This role requires a blend of administrative precision, numerical ability, and a service-oriented mindset to ensure that our clients and floor staff have the right products at the right time.

Key Work Output and Accountabilities

1. Inbound Logistics & Stock Control

  • Accurate Receipts: Handle all incoming stock deliveries, verifying physical counts against delivery notes and purchase orders to ensure zero discrepancies.

  • Returns Management: Manage the processing of stock returns with high accuracy, ensuring proper documentation and system updates.

  • Inventory Integrity: Maintain effective stock control measures and ensure all recordkeeping is up to date and compliant with VKB policies.

2. Operational & Floor Support

  • Floor Synergy: Support various store and floor functions as required, ensuring that received stock is moved efficiently to the correct departments or storage zones.

  • Housekeeping: Ensure the receiving area remains organized, safe, and clear of obstructions to facilitate smooth offloading processes.

  • Continuous Improvement: Maintain a proactive mindset, identifying ways to improve receiving workflows and add value to the branch’s operations.

3. Client Service & Administration

  • Service Excellence: Provide exceptional service to suppliers and internal clients, upholding the professional standards of the VKB Group.

  • Data Accuracy: Utilize your strong numerical and administrative abilities to ensure all stock data entered into the system is thorough, precise, and accurate.

Requirements & Competencies

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Education: Grade 12 or NQF Level 4.

  • Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in the agricultural industry will be a significant advantage.

  • Mindset: A proactive drive to continuously improve and a willingness to learn within a dynamic environment.
