VKB Milling (Pty) Ltd, a premier division of VKB Agri Processors, is seeking a highly skilled Accountant: Cost Management to be based in Mokopane. This is a high-impact role where you will oversee cost accounting functions across three critical sites: Mokopane, Lydenburg, and Louis Trichardt. Role Purpose
The Cost Management Accountant is responsible for the integrity of the milling division’s financial data. You will lead a dedicated team of assistant accountants and inventory controllers to ensure that every cent invested in our “farm-to-table” supply chain is accounted for. Your primary objective is to provide actionable insights into cost-saving opportunities, maintain rigorous financial controls, and drive the forecasting processes that shape the future of our world-class operations.
Key Work Output and Accountabilities
1. Team Leadership & Site Oversight

Strategic Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a cross-functional team of assistant accountants and inventory controllers across three regional sites.

Regional Travel: Conduct frequent site visits to Mokopane, Lydenburg, and Louis Trichardt to ensure standardized financial practices and local operational alignment.
2. Cost Analysis & Financial Insight

In-Depth Analysis: Conduct detailed cost analysis to identify variances and cost-saving opportunities within the maize and wheat milling processes.

Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to senior management, clearly highlighting the key drivers of production costs.

Forecasting: Lead the budget and forecasting processes, ensuring data accuracy and strategic alignment with the VKB Group’s growth goals.
3. Process Improvement & Compliance

Operational Excellence: Identify and implement process improvements that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the accounting function.

Internal Controls: Implement and maintain robust control measures to safeguard company assets and inventory.

Compliance: Ensure all financial activities comply with relevant IFRS/GAAP standards and internal VKB regulations.
4. Systems Management

ERP Proficiency: Utilize accounting software to its full potential to drive data integrity. Previous experience with NAVISION is a significant advantage.
Requirements & Competencies
Education & Experience
-
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Certification: Professional accounting certification (e.g., CIMA, SAIPA, or AGA(SA)) is highly preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in cost accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

Mobility: A valid Driver’s License and own vehicle are essential due to the requirement for frequent site travel.

Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to solve complex financial problems and provide insights from raw data.

Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with senior management, plant managers, and suppliers.
