This is a vital role within our supply chain, ensuring that essential agricultural and consumer goods are accurately selected and dispatched to our farmers and retail branches. Role Summary

The Picker is responsible for the precise selection and management of stock within the Bethlehem Distribution Centre. Working in a high-volume environment, you will be tasked with picking, checking, and packing orders while maintaining strict inventory control. This role is essential for maintaining the “VKB Promise” of quality and reliability, ensuring that every parcel leaving our facility is correct and ready for our customers.

Key Work Output and Accountabilities

1. Picking & Packing Operations

Order Fulfillment: Accurately pick stock items based on digital or manual picking slips to fulfill internal and external orders.
Quality Checking: Verify that picked items match the order specifications in terms of quantity and product code before packing.
Packing Excellence: Securely pack goods for transit to minimize damage and ensure logistical efficiency.

2. Stock Control & Receiving

Receiving & Dispatch: Assist in the receiving of new inventory from suppliers and the organized dispatch of goods to various regional branches.
Inventory Management: Participate in regular stock counts and maintain the organization of the warehouse aisles.
Forklift Operation: If licensed, operate a forklift to move pallets and heavy stock safely within the facility.

3. Manual Handling & Safety

Physical Tasks: Perform manual handling of products (lifting up to 15kg) following correct ergonomic procedures.
Warehouse Hygiene: Maintain high standards of housekeeping in your designated work zone to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

Requirements & Competencies

Education & Experience

Minimum Education: Grade 12 or NQF4.
Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a similar warehouse, distribution, or logistics role.
Certification: A valid Forklift License is highly advantageous and will be prioritized.

Core Skills

Attention to Detail: Precision is critical to avoid order errors and stock variances.
Time Management: Must have excellent time-keeping skills to meet daily dispatch deadlines.
Independence: Ability to work independently while remaining a disciplined team player.
Organization: Must be highly organized and capable of following complex warehouse workflows.
