Role Purpose

The Service Advisor at the Gezina branch is the technical face of our repairs division. Your primary goal is to ensure excellent customer service by providing expert advice on tool and machinery maintenance, managing the repair workflow, and explaining technical service outcomes to customers. You will handle a wide range of products, including compressors, petrol and diesel engines, generators, and specialized welding equipment.

Key Performance Areas & Responsibilities

1. Technical Consultation & Liaison

  • Expert Advice: Consult with Repairs Technicians to understand necessary repairs and identify possible alternatives for the customer.

  • Parts & Services: Use your extensive product knowledge to provide information on available parts and specific service options for different machinery brands.

  • Warranty Management: Provide customers with clear information on warranty protections and advise them on potential cost savings.

2. Repairs Workflow Management

  • Scheduling: Oversee and manage the Repairs division’s daily workflow, including booking appointments and ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Communication: Proactively call customers to advise them on repair progress and coordinate pick-up times.

  • Service Outcomes: Answer complex questions regarding technical service outcomes and the longevity of repaired equipment.

3. Relationship Management

  • Customer Retention: Maintain positive relationships through transparent communication to ensure repeat business and brand loyalty.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Communicate effectively with customers at all levels, from DIY enthusiasts to professional contractors and engineering firms.

Requirements & Desired Skills

Education & Experience

  • Work Experience: Proven work experience as a Service Advisor or in a similar technical role within the machinery industry.

  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the repairs and maintenance of power tools, compressors, and small engines (Petrol & Diesel).

  • Technical Knowledge: Previous experience with welding machines and generators is a significant advantage.

Core Competencies

  • Technical Savvy: A deep knowledge of mechanical systems and how they function.

  • Attention to Detail: Must be highly detail-oriented when documenting repair requirements and communicating with the technical team.

  • Language Proficiency: Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently to handle technical documentation and customer queries.

  • Motivation: Must be highly motivated and capable of managing a high-pressure service desk environment.

Working Hours & Environment

  • Monday – Friday: 08:00 – 17:00

  • Saturdays: 08:00 – 13:00

  • Location: Gezina, Pretoria, Gauteng (Onsite).
