DATA CAPTURER / DRIVER: MOBILE DCXR UNITS (AMATHOLE DISTRICT)

AQUITY Innovations NPC, in partnership with the National Department of Health, is inviting applications for the position of Data Capturer / Driver for the Global Fund TB Project. This critical health-logistics role will support Mobile and Movable DCXR (Digital Chest X-Ray) Units across the Amathole District in the Eastern Cape. We are looking for three (3) versatile individuals who possess the dual expertise of high-level health data management and professional heavy-vehicle driving. This is a fixed-term contract aligned with the Global Fund’s strategic health initiatives through 2028.

Role Purpose

The Data Capturer / Driver serves as a vital link in the community TB screening value chain. You will be responsible for the safe operation and transit of specialized mobile medical units and the meticulous capturing of patient data into national health systems. This role is perfect for a disciplined professional who is comfortable working in a mobile environment, engaging with rural and peri-urban communities in the Amathole District, and maintaining high standards of data integrity.


Key Performance Areas & Responsibilities

1. Data Management & Quality Assurance

  • Record Keeping: Capture and record all data gathered during community TB screening in both facility-based and outreach settings.

  • Reporting: Generate and compile system-generated reports (daily, weekly, and monthly) to track project milestones.

  • Data Integrity: Conduct monthly and quarterly data verification and “clean-up” to ensure reporting accuracy for the National Department of Health.

  • Administration: Manage filing, administrative duties, and provide feedback on project successes and challenges to sub-district health offices.

2. Logistics & Mobile Unit Operations

  • Professional Driving: Drive Code 10 vehicles for community outreach, ensuring the safety of expensive DCXR medical equipment.

  • Vehicle Maintenance: Prepare vehicles for outreach, maintain accurate vehicle logs, and ensure compliance with all local driving laws.

  • Operational Setup: Lead the physical setup and preparation of mobile screening sites for daily operational activities.

3. Community Mobilization

  • Demand Creation: Conduct social mobilization activities to encourage community members to participate in TB screening.

  • Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong working relationships with local health facility staff and community leaders.

  • Customer Focus: Ensure that all community members are treated with dignity and care during the screening and data-capturing process.


Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

To be considered for one of the three vacancies in the Amathole District, candidates must meet the following:

  • Education: Grade 12 (Matric) is essential.

  • License: A valid South African Code 10 Driverโ€™s License AND a Professional Driver Permit (PrDP/PDP).

  • Experience: * Minimum of two (2) years of experience in data capturing and reporting.

    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a professional driver.

  • Clinical Knowledge: Proven experience in the recording and reporting of TB and HIV data.

  • Technical Systems: Knowledge of health M&E systems such as TIER.net and DHIS is highly advantageous.

  • IT Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Packages (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Compliance: Must be fully compliant with all local driving laws and regulations.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and local languages (isiXhosa).

  • Resilience: Ability to maintain drive and initiative under pressure and work after-hours or travel extensively.
