Role Purpose

The purpose of the P40 Flexi Shop Assistant/Cashier is to drive store profitability and customer satisfaction through a versatile approach to retail. You are the engine room of the store, balancing efficient till processing with the physical demands of merchandising, housekeeping, and stock replenishment. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy variety and can maintain high standards of professionalism during peak trading periods.

Key Performance Areas & Responsibilities

1. Exceptional Customer Care

  • Service Excellence: Acknowledge every customer and assist them in finding products, sizes, and styles across our fashion and cellular ranges.

  • Effective Communication: Communicate fluently and professionally to resolve customer queries and promote store-specific initiatives like Lay-Bys and the Ackermans Card.

  • Brand Ambassadorship: Represent the Ackermans brand by living our core values of courage, care, and commitment in every interaction.

2. Accurate Till Operations

  • Transaction Processing: Execute swift and accurate processing of cash, credit card, and debit card payments.

  • Financial Integrity: Maintain an excellent track record of “overs and unders” through meticulous cash handling.

  • Administrative Tasks: Process refunds, exchanges, and Lay-Bys in strict accordance with company policies and procedures.

3. Merchandising & Sales Floor Standards

  • Stock Replenishment: Ensure the sales floor is constantly stocked and that products are easily accessible to customers.

  • Pricing & Labeling: Ensure all stock is correctly priced and that promotional signage is displayed according to corporate planograms.

  • Housekeeping: Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization on the sales floor to ensure a safe and pleasant shopping environment.

4. Risk Management & Compliance

  • Loss Prevention: Be vigilant for suspicious behavior and report any potential security risks or shoplifting to Management immediately.

  • Stock Integrity: Participate in periodic stock takes and mini-counts to ensure inventory accuracy.

  • Policy Adherence: Consistently apply Ackermans values, policies, and procedures in all aspects of your work.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

To be successful in this P40 Flexi role in Kuils River, candidates should meet the following:
