Job Purpose

The Store Manager at Northridge Mall is the ultimate custodian of the Ackermans brand. Your primary mission is to optimize sales and consistently exceed customer expectations through the expert implementation of the company’s operations strategy. You will be responsible for the full spectrum of store management, from high-level financial oversight and cost control to the ground-level inspiration and development of your team. This role requires a leader who can balance the analytical demands of stock management with the interpersonal skills needed to lead a diverse workforce.


Key Performance Areas & Responsibilities

1. Sales Optimization & Strategic Management

  • Strategy Execution: Implement the national operations strategy at a local level to ensure the Northridge Mall branch meets and exceeds its turnover targets.

  • Merchandise Management: Oversee the flow of stock to ensure the store is always fully merchandised and aligned with the latest seasonal trends.

  • Customer Excellence: Set the benchmark for customer service, ensuring every shopper experience reflects the brand’s commitment to value and care.

2. Financial & Cost Control

  • Inventory Management: Utilize outstanding stock control skills to minimize shrinkage and ensure high levels of stock accuracy.

  • Expense Management: Manage store costs and budgets effectively to maximize the branch’s operating income.

  • Administrative Oversight: Ensure that all financial procedures, including daily banking and cash-up reconciliations, are performed with 100% accuracy.

3. Leadership & Staff Development

  • Team Influence: Lead, motivate, and influence your team to achieve collective store goals.

  • Development Orientation: Actively identify training needs and mentor fellow team members to prepare them for future growth within the company.

  • Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to foster a high-performance culture.

4. Store Standards & Compliance

  • Brand Custodianship: Maintain impeccable store standards, from visual merchandising to general housekeeping and safety.

  • Policy Adherence: Ensure strict compliance with all Ackermans policies, procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA) requirements.

  • Audit Readiness: Keep the store in a state of constant audit-readiness through disciplined administrative practices.


Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

To be considered for the Store Manager position at Northridge Mall, candidates must meet the following:

  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of retail experience, which must include at least one (1) year in a supervisory or management position.

  • Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent is essential.

    • Advantage: Further qualifications related to Retail, Business Management, or Accounting.

  • Skills: * Proven merchandise management, stock, and cost control skills.

    • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).

    • Competence in a second official language is a strong advantage.

  • Attributes: Energetic self-starter with the capacity to lead and influence a team.
