Role Purpose
The In Store Visual Merchandiser is the creative heartbeat of the Loch Logan branch. Your mission is to translate corporate VM strategies into a localized retail reality that inspires customers and drives turnover. You will be responsible for the weekly evaluation of store image, the management of VM assets (POS and equipment), and the training of fellow “Phadimas” (staff) on visual standards. This role requires a blend of artistic flair and operational discipline to ensure that the Ackermans brand image remains consistent and world-class.
Key Performance Areas & Responsibilities
1. Store Image & Aesthetic Excellence

Implementation: Execute all VM-required activities for specific promotional periods, ensuring the store remains visually fresh and engaging.

Standardization: Maintain consistent VM standards across all departments to enhance the overall customer journey.

Evaluation: Conduct weekly store image evaluations, identifying specific opportunities for enhancement and aesthetic improvement.

Asset Management: Ensure all VM assets, including mannequins, shelving equipment, and Point of Sale (POS) materials, are maintained and managed efficiently.
2. Turnover Contribution & Stock Alignment

Replenishment Monitoring: Monitor stock levels daily to ensure the floor remains “full” and visually appealing. Report any missed merchandising opportunities to the Store Manager immediately.

Execution: Action all VM instructions and corporate requirements timeously to ensure the store aligns with national marketing campaigns.
3. Communication, Feedback & Logistics

Phadima Guidance: Communicate all store guidelines and VM resources to the store team (Phadimas), ensuring everyone understands the visual vision.

Record Keeping: Ensure all VM checklists are completed and filed for future audit reference.

Order Management: Communicate orders for VM materials to Store Management or the District Sales Manager (DSM) and follow up on delivery.
4. Training & Team Development

On-the-Job Training: Initiate practical training sessions for fellow staff members to improve their understanding of visual standards and product knowledge.

SBU Workshops: Participate in Strategic Business Unit workshops and implement new learnings within the Loch Logan store to drive improved results.

TMT Coordination: Ensure Technical Management Training (TMT) regarding VM principles is conducted and reviewed with the Store Manager.
Experience & Qualifications Required
To be considered for the Visual Merchandiser position at Loch Logan, candidates must meet the following:

Education: A Grade 12 Certificate/Matric is essential.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of shop floor retail experience specifically within a clothing retail environment.
