Role Purpose
The End Controller serves as the final gatekeeper of the store’s physical assets. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that no stock or fixed assets leave the premises without valid, fully completed, and authorized documentation. You are also the primary point of control for customer returns and employee exit searches. This role is vital for preventing shrinkage and ensuring that every transaction is recorded with 100% accuracy. You must be prepared to work under pressure in a high-traffic environment while maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor.
Key Performance Areas & Responsibilities
1. Documentation & Exit Control

Transaction Verification: Physically check every item leaving the store against relevant invoices or delivery notes.

Document Accuracy: Ensure documents are completed in full, showing the correct date, time, numerical sequence, and authorized signatures.

Stock Security: Guarantee that no goods leave the store without being properly recorded and verified.

Key Control: Sign the End Control keys in and out daily, maintaining strict custody of access points.
2. Logistics & Access Security

Door Management: Ensure all entry and exit doors, including loading and off-loading shutter doors, are closed and locked whenever they are not in active use.

Risk Monitoring: Proactively identify and report suspicious behavior or unauthorized vehicles that could pose a security risk to the store or its customers.

Employee Searches: Conduct professional, random searches on employees as they leave the store in accordance with company policy and labor regulations.
3. Returns & Records Management

Customer Returns: Accurately record all stock returned by customers in the official End Controller Book, ensuring every entry is authorized by management.

Continuity: Ensure a backup employee is available for your area of responsibility during shift changes, lunch, and tea breaks to prevent any security gaps.
4. Customer Service & Standards

Client Interaction: Offer fast, friendly, and efficient service while checking customer goods, ensuring the security process does not negatively impact the shopping experience.

Direction: Assist customers by directing them to the relevant staff members for specific queries or product help.

Ready for Business: Adhere to the “Ready for Business” standards as defined by the Cashbuild Way.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
To be considered for this professional security and control role in Alice, candidates must meet the following:

Education: Grade 12 (Matric) is essential.

Experience: * Minimum of 1 (one) year work-related experience with a Grade 12 certificate, OR

2 (two) years’ work-related experience in a similar control or security environment.

Numerical Skills: Strong numeric skills are required to verify stock quantities against documentation quickly and accurately.

Literacy: Must be fully literate in English and the dominant local language of the Alice area (isiXhosa).

Attributes: Proven attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under high pressure.

Availability: Must be willing to work retail shifts, weekends, and Public Holidays.
