Role Purpose

The Cashier at Dis-Chem Crescent Corner is the final point of contact in the customer’s shopping journey. Your primary objective is to facilitate efficient and accurate transactions while maintaining the highest standards of customer service. You will be responsible for recording all sales on the Dis-Chem operating system, managing cash flow securely, and ensuring that every customer leaves with a positive impression of the brand. There is a zero-tolerance policy toward inaccuracies and fraud.

Key Performance Areas & Responsibilities

1. Point of Sale (POS) Operations

• Transaction Management: Receive and process all forms of payment, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, and coupons, ensuring all items and scripts are scanned correctly.

• Loyalty Programs: Process Dis-Chem loyalty cards and accelerator partner benefits (e.g., Discovery Health, eBucks, Absa Rewards, and Momentum Multiply).

• Authorized Changes: Ensure all price changes and line voids are signed off by a supervisor before finalizing the transaction.

2. Financial Integrity & Security

• Cash Flow Accountability: Maintain total responsibility for the cash flow in your till, ensuring money is kept safely and dropped into the safe according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Fraud Prevention: Restrict the use of your login code/password and remain alert to suspicious behavior, reporting any risks to management immediately.

• Confidentiality: Handle daily takings with strict confidentiality, discussing financial matters only with authorized store management.

3. Customer Service Excellence

• 5-Star Communication: Implement Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles to establish a professional rapport with every shopper.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
