The purpose of this role is to ensure the efficient delivery and collection of materials to customers.
Your areas of responsibility:
- Complete a vehicle inspection sheet and ensure that the vehicle is roadworthy before embarking on a journey
- Report any defects/accidents of the vehicle to the branch manager immediately
- Determine whether the truck complies with weight and height limits on bridges and tunnels, and compliance with rules and regulations for transporting materials
- Navigate each destination on schedule to determine the most expedient trip
- Load stock according to the log sheet, together with the operations manager and ensure that the stock corresponds to the delivery note
- Submit all relevant delivery administration and reports of each delivery for an accurate record of what has been completed
- Obtain clients’ and customers’ signatures as an acknowledgement of having received the delivered goods
- Effectively communicate with clients and customers to resolve complaints
- Ensure that the delivery vehicle is always clean
- Keep a record and advise the operations manager when the vehicle is due for service
- Report all delivery-related problems to the Operations Manager
- Maintain compliance with all safety and security regulations
Qualifications we are looking for:
- Matric / Equivalent is a MUST
- A valid Code 14 driver’s licence is a MUST
- A valid PDP / CD licence is a MUST
- Hazchem certificate is a MUST
- A valid passport is DESIRABLE
- Proven work experience as a Truck Driver
- Must be able to handle dangerous goods
- Familiar with GPS technology devices, AVL units, etc.
- Knowledge of warehouse processes
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and protective clothing
