Purpose of the Job
The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the integrity of the payroll function. You will perform complex reconciliations, manage employee tax requirements, and support the Payroll Supervisor in delivering a high-standard service. This role requires a professional who can work independently while coordinating vital data from distant regions to ensure every employee is paid accurately and on time.
Key Performance Areas & Responsibilities
1. Full-Function Payroll Processing

Data Verification: Processing, verifying, and reconciling all pay information to ensure accuracy.

Statutory Compliance: Ensuring all payments align with the latest Labour Legislation, Employees’ Tax (PAYE), and statutory requirements.

Wage Payments: Guaranteeing the timely and accurate payment of both salaries and wages across the organization.
2. Reconciliations & Analysis

Bargaining Council Alignment: Performing specialized reconciliations, specifically comparing the National Bargaining Council (NBCRFL) Leave balances against SAGE 300 People records.

Variance Reporting: Preparing detailed analytical reviews of salaries for each pay period and providing clear explanations for any material variances between months.
3. Audit & Administrative Support

Audit Prep: Assisting in the preparation for internal and external audits by ensuring all documentation and digital records are compliant and accessible.

Supervisory Support: Providing high-level support to the Payroll Supervisor and executing ad-hoc payroll tasks as assigned by management.

Regional Coordination: Managing the intake and control of payroll information from various distant regions to centralize the reporting function.
Qualification and Experience Requirements
To qualify for this senior-level administration role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Education: Grade 12 / Matric and a Certificate or Diploma in Bookkeeping, Accountancy, or Payroll.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a same or similar payroll role.

System Expertise: At least 3 years of experience specifically processing payroll using SAGE 300 People (Essential).

Industry Knowledge: Prior exposure to the National Bargaining Council Collective Agreement for the Road Freight Industry is highly advantageous.

Regional Exposure: Experience with Africa-wide payrolls and cross-border legislation is considered a plus.
