Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Ultra-heavy Motor Vehicle Driver is to prepare, load, and operate ultra-heavy vehicles to distribute goods across the region. You will be expected to maintain the highest standards of defensive driving, vehicle housekeeping, and customer service while ensuring compliance with the National Road Traffic Act.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Vehicle Operation & Safety

Safe Driving: Maintain a clean driving record by utilizing advanced defensive driving techniques.

Pre-Trip Inspections: Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and report any defects or emergencies according to standard procedures.

Emergency Readiness: Knowledge of vehicle components and the correct operation of fire extinguishers.

Compliance: Ensure the vehicle is never overloaded and adheres to the National Road Traffic Act at all times.
2. Load & Transport Management

Loading Techniques: Oversee or assist in the loading and offloading of vehicles, ensuring the load is properly secured before departure.

Tarpaulins: Responsible for the opening and closing of tarpaulins where applicable.

Documentation: Handle all required trip documentation, delivery notes, and ancillary paperwork with accuracy.
3. Operational Efficiency

Cost-Effectiveness: Operate the vehicle in a manner that maximizes fuel efficiency and minimizes wear and tear.

Housekeeping: Maintain the cleanliness and professional appearance of the vehicle, provided uniform, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Flexibility: Preparedness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required by the distribution schedule.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this high-caliber driving role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Education: Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate.

Literacy: Minimum Grade 10 literacy level (must be verbally and numerically literate).

Licensing: Valid Code EC driver’s license with a valid PrDP (DGP).

Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience driving an Ultra-Heavy Vehicle.

Age: Must be 25 years of age or older.
