Purpose of the Job
The Accountant Mill is tasked with managing the complete financial function on-site. This includes the implementation of stringent financial controls, recording, and reporting to ensure that all finance-related procedures mitigate risks and protect company assets. You will serve as the financial gatekeeper for the Pretoria Mill operations.
Key Performance Areas & Responsibilities
1. Asset & Risk Management

Stock Control: Implementing asset management processes to manage stock accurately and prevent theft or loss.

Audit Readiness: Preparing for and assisting with internal and external audits to ensure compliance with statutory and group requirements.

IT Oversight: Managing the ongoing functioning of the site’s IT infrastructure to support financial systems.
2. Financial Accounting & Reporting

Month-End Procedures: Performing financial month-end duties up to the trial balance stage.

Reconciliations: Compiling balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

Policy Maintenance: Initiating and maintaining company procedures and policies related to administration and finance.
3. Cost Management & Strategic Planning

Budgeting & Forecasting: Preparing annual budgets, monitoring performance, and providing detailed variance reporting and financial projections.

Deviation Analysis: Providing a cost management service to the management team by reporting on deviations and identifying waste elimination opportunities.

Debtors/Creditors: Managing all procedures relating to accounts payable and receivable to prevent misappropriation of company funds.
4. Human Resource Management

Leadership: Managing the finance team and HR-related functions on-site.

Performance: Ensuring the finance department meets set deadlines and maintains a high standard of accuracy.
Qualification and Experience Requirements
To qualify for the Accountant Mill role, candidates must possess:

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is Essential.

Professional Certification: CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) qualification is highly regarded.

FMCG Experience: 2–3 years of experience in the FMCG sector at an operational level (Essential).
