The Assistant Handyman is responsible for supporting the maintenance and repair of the facility, ensuring that all equipment, buildings, and outdoor areas are in safe and working condition. This role involves assisting with general repairs, cleaning, and upkeep of various structures and machinery used in the training and care of horses. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and capable of working independently while supporting the overall operations of the center.

You Bring 

• Assist with routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, and general repairs on buildings, stalls, fences, and other structures.
• Help maintain and repair outdoor arenas, riding tracks, and other facilities essential for horse training.
• Perform light plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work as needed.
• Monitor and maintain tools, equipment, and supplies, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of all indoor and outdoor areas.
• Support horse trainers and staff with setup, takedown, and maintenance of training equipment.
• Assist in maintaining the condition of horse stalls, barns, and related areas.
• Respond promptly to urgent repair needs, especially in areas that affect horse safety or training routines.
• Ensure safety standards are followed, including proper handling of tools, chemicals, and machinery.
• Work closely with the lead handyman and other staff to prioritize and manage tasks effectively.

 

A bonus to have 

• Previous experience in maintenance or a similar role preferred.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Experience in working in an agricultural, equestrian, or outdoor setting is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be physically fit and capable of handling manual labor, including lifting heavy items and performing outdoor work.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
• Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in outdoor conditions for extended periods.
• Capable of performing maintenance tasks that require stamina and focus in all weather conditions.
