Position Overview
Fidelity ADT is seeking a Fire Department Dispatcher to join its Midrand operations. This role is critical in ensuring fast, accurate, and coordinated emergency response services. The successful candidate will manage emergency communications, dispatch fire and rescue services, and support field personnel during high-pressure incidents.
Fluency in Afrikaans is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities
Emergency Dispatch & Communication
- Receive and manage incoming emergency calls in a calm and professional manner
- Dispatch fire, emergency medical, and rescue units efficiently
- Relay accurate and timely information to responding teams
Operational Coordination
- Monitor and track the location and status of responding units
- Coordinate communication between control room and field personnel
- Provide ongoing support to emergency responders during incidents
Records & Systems Management
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of incidents and actions taken
- Operate and manage communication and dispatch systems according to SOPs
- Ensure confidentiality and data accuracy at all times
Customer Service
- Provide professional and reassuring service to callers
- Maintain clear communication with internal and external stakeholders
Minimum Requirements
- Fluent in Afrikaans (essential)
- Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent qualification
- Previous dispatcher or emergency control room experience (advantageous)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Computer literacy and ability to operate communication systems
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
