Position Overview
The Driver (3501–9000 kg) – BUCO Athlone is responsible for safe, efficient, and timely delivery of goods to stores and clients. This role ensures that all deliveries are executed without breakages or shortages while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely deliver goods to stores, clients, and designated locations.
- Ensure the vehicle is neatly packed and organized for transport.
- Prevent damages and breakages during transit.
- Supervise and assist with loading of goods.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report defects.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, service, and compliance.
- Ensure correct quantities and supplies are delivered.
- Reduce operational costs through careful vehicle and route management.
- Handle delivery notes, authorizations, and COD collections.
- Uphold The Building Company’s values and culture in all interactions.
Job Requirements
- Education: Grade 12.
- Licences:
- Code 10 (Heavy Vehicle, 3501–9000 kg) or
- Code 8 (Light Vehicle, <3501 kg).
- Experience: Minimum 2 years relevant driving experience in a delivery or logistics environment.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of delivery routes and vehicle handling.
- Strong attention to safety and operational standards.
- Basic vehicle maintenance and reporting skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
