This opportunity is based at the Head Office in Pretoria, supporting the national Supply Chain Management (SCM) function.
Position Overview
The Department seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Supply Chain Practitioner: Demand Management to provide administrative and operational support within the Demand and Acquisition Management directorate. The role involves coordinating demand plans, managing procurement processes, maintaining supplier information, and ensuring compliance with key SCM legislation and frameworks.
This position is ideal for an organised and analytical individual with a strong understanding of public sector supply chain practices.
Key Responsibilities
Demand Management Support
- Render administrative support for procurement planning of goods, services, and works.
- Collate, verify, and consolidate Demand Management Plans to produce the Department’s Integrated Demand Management Plan.
- Generate BAS reports to confirm allocated budgets and spending trends.
Demand & Acquisition Clerical Services
- Update and maintain the supplier database.
- Ensure proper capturing and registration of suppliers.
- Request, receive, and document quotations.
- Capture specifications on the electronic purchasing system and ensure timely placement of orders.
- Issue and receive bid documents.
- Provide logistical and secretarial support during bid evaluation and contract processes.
Requisitions & Market Analysis
- Analyse and submit daily requests to quotation units.
- Conduct market analysis for requisitions and provide integrated monthly requisition reports.
Document Control & Administration
- File all SCM documents, including deviation memos and related approvals.
- Maintain electronic and manual filing of terms of reference and procurement documentation.
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma (NQF 6) in:
- Financial Management
- Logistics
- Purchasing Management
- Supply Chain Management
- Public Administration
- Minimum 1 year experience in Supply Chain / Demand Management / Acquisition Management.
- Knowledge of:
- Public sector procurement processes
- SCM Policy Framework
- PFMA
- PPPFA
- CIDB prescripts
- Treasury Regulations and related SCM guidelines
- Skills required:
- Supervisory ability
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal)
- Organising and administration
- Data analysis and report interpretation
- Time management
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Valid driver’s licence
