Position Overview

The Apprentice Level 1 role is designed for candidates passionate about motor vehicle mechanics, eager to learn, and willing to undergo a structured Apprentice Training Programme over 36 months. Reporting to the Service Manager, the successful candidate will assist qualified Technicians with repairs, servicing, maintenance, and workshop operations.

This apprenticeship provides hands-on dealership experience, technical growth, and a clear pathway to becoming a qualified Motor Mechanic Technician.

Key Responsibilities

Workshop Assistance & Vehicle Repair Support

  • Assist Technicians in repairing vehicles as instructed.

  • Remove and replace vehicle parts and units.

  • Jack up vehicles and position trestles securely.

  • Perform lubrication and oil changes (under supervision).

  • Remove and replace wheels.

  • Remove and install air and oil filters.

  • Assist with battery removal and installation.

  • Support general mechanical repair tasks.

Workshop Safety & Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean and organised work area.

  • Keep tools and equipment clean and stored correctly.

  • Ensure overalls and PPE remain clean.

  • Uphold all dealership health and safety rules.

Learning & Training Requirements

  • Attend prescribed technical training and level courses.

  • Complete all required theoretical and practical modules.

  • Perform any reasonable duties as required by workshop management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12, including:

    • Pure Mathematics

    • Physical Science

  • Clear Criminal Record

  • Valid Driver’s License (advantage)

  • Preference given to candidates with Motor Mechanic Trade learning exposure

  • Technical skills and mechanical aptitude beneficial

  • Good customer orientation and ability to work in a team
