Position Overview
The Department of Social Development invites applications from qualified Community Development Practitioners for 10 posts across multiple service offices in KwaZulu-Natal. Successful candidates will plan, coordinate, and implement community development interventions, support local structures, and ensure sustainable development outcomes.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Community Development or Development Studies
-
Valid driver’s license
Knowledge & Skills
-
Knowledge of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and Batho-Pele Principles
-
Understanding of human behaviour, social systems, and community dynamics
-
Knowledge of community development processes, structures, and sustainability principles
-
Competence in coordinating community development structures and managing projects
-
Ability to influence individuals and groups to participate in self-empowerment
-
Employee Performance Management and Development System (EPMDS)

Skills: Communication (verbal & written), Computer literacy, Planning & organizing, Financial management, Interpersonal, Presentation & facilitation, Monitoring & evaluation, Project management, Research, Report writing, Problem-solving, Numeracy, Driving
Duties & Responsibilities

Identify and facilitate integrated community development interventions in partnership with communities and stakeholders

Liaise and coordinate with internal and external role players, including NGOs, local structures, and faith-based organizations

Support community participation and perform administrative support for community development programs

Keep abreast of developments in the community development field to enhance service delivery
