This role forms part of the Demand and Acquisition Management division, supporting essential Supply Chain processes that enable smooth and compliant government operations.


Position Overview

The Supply Chain Clerk is responsible for providing clerical support across the asset management, demand, acquisition, and logistics functions. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with strong administrative abilities and a passion for public service.
No previous experience is required — making this an excellent job opportunity for new matriculants seeking entry into government careers.


Key Responsibilities

1. Asset Management Support

  • Maintain and update asset records and databases.

  • Issue furniture, equipment, and accessories to internal users.

  • Identify non-serviceable, redundant, or obsolete assets for disposal.

2. Demand & Acquisition Support

  • Update and maintain supplier databases.

  • Register suppliers on LOGIS or related systems.

  • Request and receive quotations from suppliers.

  • Capture specifications on electronic procurement systems.

  • Issue and receive bid documents.

  • Provide secretariat and logistical support during bid evaluations and contract processes.

  • Draft documents related to procurement activities.

3. Logistical Support Services

  • Place orders for approved goods and services.

  • Receive, verify, and record goods delivered by suppliers.

  • Capture goods into the supply chain register.

  • Issue goods to end-users and maintain accurate inventory records.

  • Maintain an updated supplier register.


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric Certificate

  • No experience required

  • Basic understanding of Supply Chain Management practices

  • Ability to capture data and operate a computer

  • Knowledge of Public Service legislation and work procedures

  • Skills:

    • Planning and organising

    • Computer literacy

    • Written and verbal communication

    • Language proficiency

    • Basic statistical understanding
