Position Overview
The Durban Umbilo branch is looking for a Retail Shop Assistant who is energetic, reliable, and passionate about tools, machinery, and customer service. This entry-level position is ideal for young, ambitious individuals eager to grow their careers in one of South Africa’s fastest-growing technical retail environments.
The successful candidate will assist with customer enquiries, stock control, merchandising, and retail branch operations. Experience in automotive, engineering, tools and machinery, DIY, or hardware environments will be highly advantageous.
This permanent role offers hands-on exposure to sales, stock management, and retail operations, providing a solid foundation for career advancement within Adendorff Machinery Mart.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver exceptional customer service and support for tools, machinery, and spares.

Assist with merchandising to ensure visually appealing product displays.

Support stock control, stock rotation, and stocktaking activities.

Contribute to sales by understanding customer needs and recommending suitable products.

Follow retail branch procedures and operational instructions.

Maintain a clean, safe, and professional store environment.

Continuously improve product knowledge and technical skills.
Minimum Requirements

Senior Certificate (Matric) essential.

Previous experience in:

Retail or sales environments

Tools & Machinery, Automotive, or Engineering (advantageous)

DIY or Hardware retail (added advantage)

Exposure to merchandising, stock control, or stocktaking preferred.
