SALARY: R163 680 – R192 810 per annum (Level 03)
CONTRACT: Permanent, subject to signing a performance agreement
LOCATION: Northern Cape Division of the High Court – Kimberley


About the Position

The Office of the Chief Justice is seeking a disciplined and professional Security Officer to support safety and access control within the Northern Cape High Court. This role involves protecting personnel, property, documents, and infrastructure through effective security procedures and vigilant monitoring.

Minimum Requirements

  • ABET Level 2 / Grade 10

  • Relevant experience in security operations

  • Valid driver’s licence

  • Completed Basic Security Officer Course registered with PSIRA


Knowledge and Skills Needed

Knowledge of:

  • Access to Public Premises and Vehicle Act

  • Protection of Information Act and other relevant security legislation

  • MIS, NISA and established security procedures

  • Access control systems and visitor management

  • Emergency response protocols

Skills:

  • Communication (verbal and written)

  • Time management

  • Computer literacy

  • Client service

  • Problem solving

  • Interpersonal communication

  • Report writing and incident logging

  • Ability to work under security-driven procedures


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform access control duties for staff, visitors and service providers

  • Verify appointments and confirm access with relevant personnel

  • Operate walk-through metal detectors and other security equipment

  • Ensure no prohibited items or unauthorised persons enter the premises

  • Issue and maintain admission control documentation and registers

  • Inspect vehicles entering and exiting the court premises

  • Prevent unauthorised removal of departmental assets, equipment and documents

  • Operate CCTV systems and control room equipment to monitor activity

  • Log and report all incidents, breaches, and suspicious situations

  • Conduct building and perimeter patrols

  • Apply emergency protocols in events such as alarms, security threats, or urgent incidents

  • Ensure accurate completion of occurrence books and registers
