About the Department
The South African Air Force (SAAF) Headquarters Unit oversees operational and administrative support across Air Force divisions. Support roles, such as General Store Assistants, ensure the efficient handling, storage, and distribution of equipment, contributing to operational readiness and organizational efficiency.
Position Overview
The General Store Assistant will be responsible for the proper receipt, issuance, and maintenance of store equipment. This includes adhering to safety regulations, maintaining accurate registers, and performing ad hoc store-related tasks as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all equipment and goods are received in proper condition.
- Maintain accurate registers for equipment received and issued.
- Familiarize with and apply the prescribed Fire Order (DD19) in the store.
- Operate and maintain fire extinguishing apparatus as required.
- Execute ad hoc store tasks and duties as directed by supervisors.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the store.
Minimum Requirements
- ABET qualification or equivalent.
- No prior experience required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic numerical skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
