Role Overview
Discovery Health is currently looking for a highly skilled and strategic Technical Marketing Actuary to join our Research & Development (R&D) team. This role is critical in optimizing sales and distribution strategies across Discovery Health and Vitality. The ideal candidate will possess strong actuarial expertise, data interpretation skills, and the ability to transform analytical findings into impactful business recommendations.
This is a high-impact position that integrates market research, distribution analytics, product positioning, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will serve as both a technical expert and a strategic advisor in driving new business initiatives, supporting product development, and shaping the direction of Discovery Health’s sales distribution strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Sales and Distribution Strategy

Deliver actionable strategic insights and solutions to support Discovery Health and Vitality’s growth agenda

Lead the development and implementation of sales and distribution strategies across key product lines

Shape product positioning for annual enhancements and new product rollouts

Conduct detailed market analyses and present insights to guide executive decision-making

Contribute to Discovery’s innovation pipeline through research and trend analysis
Broker Engagement and Leadership

Build relationships with broker networks and support the distribution ecosystem

Act as a decision-making authority on complex queries related to product positioning and distribution

Conduct webinars and roadshows to educate brokers on new products and strategic initiatives

Gather market intelligence and broker feedback to inform future product development and distribution models
Market Research and Technical Analysis

Lead technical modeling projects focused on utilization trends, risk metrics, and sales performance

Conduct desktop research and competitor benchmarking to maintain Discovery’s competitive edge

Produce internal white papers and external thought leadership content to promote Discovery Health and Vitality’s innovative approaches
Qualifications and Experience
-
Qualified actuary with a minimum of three years of professional work experience

Alternatively, candidates who are 1–2 exams away from qualification with at least three years of experience may be considered

Experience in management consulting or similar strategic roles is highly advantageous

Strong understanding of actuarial techniques, data analytics, and health insurance principles
