Role Overview
As a Shop Assistant based at the Norkem branch in Kempton Park, your primary responsibility is to create an outstanding shopping experience by ensuring smooth store operations. You will handle everything from stock receiving to cashier activities, merchandising, and maintaining housekeeping standards. This is a hands-on retail role suited for individuals who are team-oriented, reliable, and passionate about customer service. You’ll also play an important role in maintaining the brand’s promise of excellence and simplicity.
Key Responsibilities
Stock Receiving and Off-loading

Assist with receiving incoming stock deliveries

Ensure proper off-loading, handling, and placement of stock in designated areas

Report any stock variances or damages immediately
Cashier Activities
-
Operate tills and handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly

Maintain a clean and organized cashier station

Engage with customers in a friendly and helpful manner
Merchandising and Cleaning

Display and arrange products neatly in fridges, shelves, and across the store

Replenish shelves and ensure product visibility aligns with promotions

Keep shelves clean and organized throughout the day
Reporting & Counting

Conduct daily stock counts and report discrepancies

Keep record of product movement and low stock alerts
Teamwork

Collaborate effectively with colleagues and management

Participate in team meetings and store initiatives

Support peers during busy periods or promotional events
Customer Service

Greet customers and provide assistance with product queries

Resolve customer issues or escalate where necessary

Deliver a warm and respectful shopping experience
Housekeeping and Safety Standards

Keep store areas tidy and free of hazards

Follow all health, safety, and hygiene protocols

Minimum Requirements
Educational Background

Matric (Grade 12)

Ability to speak and write fluently in English
