Job Overview

RCL FOODS is seeking a Team Leader: Cooking and Receiving to join our Pies operating unit in Krugersdorp. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient cooking operations and proper handling of raw materials, including receiving, storing, and preparing ingredients as per production plans.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
3 – 5 years experience in a production plant/environment

Key Responsibilities

1️⃣ Pre-Cooking Planning

  • Ensure cooking areas, pots, and dollies are clean and sanitized
  • Verify ventilation systems are functional
  • Ensure cooking and receiving staff have the correct PPE
  • Cross-check filling stock in the chilling area against daily production plans
  • Inspect ingredients and raw materials for recipe requirements
  • Confirm metal-checking of meat before processing

2️⃣ Cooking & Resource Allocation

  • Assign cooking plans/recipes per cooker
  • Ensure strict adherence to recipes
  • Monitor & record cooking and cooling temperatures
  • Enforce safety and plant rules for all team members
  • Maintain proper housekeeping during production
  • Provide coaching & mentoring to subordinates
  • Drive waste reduction initiatives

3️⃣ Supervision of Titled Activities

  • Ensure dollies are weighed & properly labeled
  • Calculate yields per pot & recipe
  • Verify actual filling volumes/weights

4️⃣ Pre-Receiving/Delivery Compliance Assessment

  • Review daily delivery plans from Procurement
  • Cross-check truck delivery notes
  • Verify transportation & storage temperatures
  • Perform sample testing for metal detection

5️⃣ Offloading, Weighing & Testing Deliveries

  • Run received stock through metal detectors
  • Weigh & record all stock received
  • Check weight variations against delivery notes

6️⃣ End-of-Shift Stock Management

  • Record all filling stored in the chilling area
  • Hand over stock details to the next shift

7️⃣ Health & Safety Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to legal & company policies

8️⃣ Quality & Food Safety

  • Implement & improve food safety systems
  • Ensure compliance with relevant SOPs and regulations
