Role Overview
The Cashier position is a permanent, entry-level role based at the Cape Gate branch in Cape Town. This role plays a vital part in ensuring excellent store performance, accurate transaction processing, and outstanding customer satisfaction.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating cash registers, processing various forms of payment accurately, and resolving customer queries efficiently. This position is ideal for individuals who are sales-driven, customer-focused, and possess strong numeracy and time-management skills.
Key Responsibilities
As a Cashier at Toys R Us and Babies R Us, you will be responsible for:

Customer Service Excellence: Deliver outstanding service to customers to create a WOW shopping experience for every visitor.

Point of Sale (POS) Operations: Operate cash registers efficiently, process payments, and ensure all transactions are completed according to company procedures.

Sales and Upselling: Promote add-on sales and services at POS to maximize revenue while meeting company sales targets.

Merchandising and Housekeeping: Maintain clean and organized work areas, adhere to merchandising standards, and ensure products are correctly priced and displayed.

Stock Management: Participate in stock takes, stock counts, and minimize stock loss by monitoring inventory carefully.

Promotions and Marketing: Implement and maintain all advertised sales promotions at POS to drive customer engagement and sales.

Returns and Queries: Examine returned goods, resolve customer complaints efficiently, and escalate issues to management when necessary.

Compliance and SOP Adherence: Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues and management to maintain a positive and productive store environment.

Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with new technology, retail methods, and mandatory training to improve efficiency and service quality.
Entry Requirements
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Matric Certificate (Grade 12)

Minimum of six (6) months retail experience

Must have own or reliable transport to accommodate shift work

Strong numeracy and time-management skills

Good basic computer skills for POS operations

Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service
