Role Overview
The Assistant Store Manager will work closely with the Store Manager to ensure the daily success of the GALXBOY Mimosa Mall store. This role requires a proactive, energetic, and organized individual with strong leadership capabilities and excellent customer service skills. From managing staff and overseeing sales to ensuring compliance with visual merchandising standards, this is a hands-on role where attention to detail and the ability to motivate a team are essential.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in enhancing customer experiences, meeting sales targets, and maintaining operational excellence within the store.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service Leadership
- Lead and inspire the sales team to consistently achieve and exceed sales targets, including unit per transaction (UPT), average transaction value (ATV), and overall turnover.
- Deliver excellent customer service by being present on the sales floor, supervising operations, and supporting staff in addressing customer needs.
- Handle escalated customer complaints in a professional and efficient manner, ensuring quick resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Allocate staff effectively using the zoning guide to ensure seamless floor coverage.
Visual Merchandising
- Implement and maintain visual merchandising according to GALXBOY brand guidelines, ensuring displays are attractive and impactful.
- Conduct daily visual merchandising checks to confirm products are correctly tagged, priced, steamed, and well-presented.
- Submit weekly visual merchandising photographs for review.
- Provide ongoing training and coaching to staff on merchandising standards to ensure consistent execution.
Inventory Control
- Process deliveries on the same day of arrival, ensuring items are verified against invoices, tagged, priced, steamed, and captured in the system.
- Maintain an organized and efficient stockroom that enables quick replenishment of stock to the floor.
- Conduct weekly and monthly stock counts, preparing accurate reports for management.
- Actively enforce risk control measures to minimize stock losses and maintain inventory integrity.
Supervising Daily Operations
- Manage staff schedules, time and attendance, and implement disciplinary measures when necessary.
- Oversee daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash-ups, and cash drops.
- Supervise housekeeping standards to ensure a safe, clean, and visually appealing shopping environment.
- Manage point-of-sale (POS) operations, process refunds and exchanges according to company policy, and escalate concerns to Operations where necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
- Matric certificate is compulsory.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, retail management, or a related field is advantageous.
- At least 1–2 years’ experience in a retail managerial role.
- Strong leadership qualities with proven ability to manage, motivate, and develop a sales team.
- Comprehensive knowledge of retail operations and customer service best practices.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with POS systems.
- Passion for fashion and a drive to achieve sales excellence.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
