Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Store Manager, you’ll play a critical role in driving profitability, maintaining compliance, leading a high-performing team, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities

Achieve and surpass financial targets by boosting sales through promotions, cross-selling, up-selling, and delivering superior customer service.

Execute daily store operations including inventory control, stock shrinkage prevention, store appearance, general housekeeping, and expense management.

Maintain high standards of in-store visual merchandising, ensuring the store is aligned with Clicks’ brand image and promotional campaigns.

Motivate and support staff performance by offering direction and supervision, stepping in for the Store Manager when needed.

Maintain efficient labour scheduling in accordance with the group’s labour policies to ensure departments are adequately staffed.

Lead customer service initiatives to create exceptional shopping experiences, encouraging loyalty and increasing ClubCard participation.

Handle administrative duties effectively, ensuring accurate employee records, timesheets, and reporting to HR.

Uphold Clicks’ company values and support the vision of being South Africa’s first-choice health and beauty retailer.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
-
Grade 12 with a minimum of 50% in Maths and English
-
Relevant Retail or Business Management qualification (for external applicants)
Desirable:
-
Degree in Retail or Business Management
-
Successful completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme
Experience:
-
At least 2 years in a retail/FMCG store operations environment in an assistant store management role
-
Financial management experience including budgeting, profit & loss, and KPIs
Skills and Competencies

Sound knowledge of financial management principles, especially related to budgeting and profitability

Strong background in merchandising, stock control, risk mitigation, and compliance
-
Deep understanding of customer service excellence and sales strategy

Practical knowledge of labour laws, IR practices, and employee engagement

Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and supervise staff

Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking

Ability to work under pressure and make data-informed decisions

Proficient in Microsoft Office and point-of-sale systems
