🎯 Role Overview

The Hotel Duty Manager is responsible for ensuring that the hotel’s daily operations run smoothly, customer expectations are exceeded, and all functional areas comply with Sun International’s operating procedures and grading standards. You’ll be the key contact during shifts for managing guest satisfaction, facility presentation, and stakeholder performance.

This position requires availability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, in alignment with the operational demands of the hospitality industry.

📌 Key Responsibilities

🌟 Customer Experience & Guest Satisfaction

  • Implement and maintain the Customer Value Proposition (CVP) throughout all hotel touchpoints

  • Be visible on the floor, interacting with guests, resolving concerns, and enhancing the customer journey

  • Manage escalated customer complaints with professionalism and urgency

  • Monitor and support promotions, guest events, and daily operations

  • Ensure front-of-house and back-of-house areas meet presentation and equipment functionality standards

  • Conduct daily shift briefings, handovers, and staff communication to align operational goals

🛠 Operational & Compliance Oversight

  • Perform walkabouts to ensure compliance with SHE standards, SOPs, and grading criteria

  • Monitor tenant and business partner performance against SLAs

  • Ensure that stock, equipment, and facilities are maintained and stored according to safety regulations

  • Track audit results and address non-compliance

  • Review and update internal control systems to mitigate risk

📈 People Management & Supervision

  • Oversee team attendance, leave, and performance management

  • Identify training needs and conduct on-the-job coaching

  • Support the onboarding process and develop team succession plans

  • Foster a positive staff culture by leading with empathy, communication, and motivation

🤝 Stakeholder & Vendor Relations

  • Liaise with internal departments, tenants, and external service providers

  • Ensure alignment of service standards with operational requirements

  • Provide feedback to unit management on hotel performance, risks, and ongoing improvements

  • Communicate special events and guest requirements to all relevant departments

🎓 Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • 3-Year Hotel School Diploma or equivalent qualification in Hospitality or Tourism Management

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in the hospitality industry

  • 3+ years in a managerial position

  • Previous exposure to Duty Management responsibilities will be advantageous
