Role Overview

As a Category Buyer, you will be responsible for executing category plans in alignment with business objectives, margin strategies, and customer insights. This role demands strategic thinking, negotiation prowess, and a strong understanding of retail and category management, specifically within the Household & Cleaning segment.

You will lead initiatives that boost performance, manage supplier relationships, and drive innovation through private brand development. The position also plays a critical role in influencing merchandising strategies and ensuring exceptional product offerings for customers.


Minimum Requirements

  • Preferably a relevant University Degree.

  • 3-4 years’ retail experience, with proven success in a similar role.

  • Direct experience in Category Management (Household & Cleaning).

  • Strong track record of achieving financial KPIs.

  • SAP knowledge is an added advantage.

  • Deep understanding of buying fundamentals and merchandising.

  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills.

  • Skilled in networking, negotiation, and influencing.

  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills (written & verbal).

  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.

  • Commercial and financial acumen with analytical capabilities.

  • Comfortable managing administrative activities related to category functions.

  • Ability to work in a matrix structure and engage multiple departments.

  • Applies industry knowledge to optimize category plans.

  • Aligns buying plans with overall business goals and growth metrics.

🤝 Supplier Relations

  • Builds strong partnerships, sets KPIs, and holds suppliers accountable.

  • Identifies gaps and implements plans to ensure target delivery.

🏷 Private Brand Development

  • Executes private brand strategies to enhance category competitiveness and profitability.

🧠 Merchandise Knowledge

  • Stays informed of promotions, pricing shifts, and competitor activities.

  • Creates impactful merchandising solutions based on market trends.
