Job Description:

RCL Foods is looking for a Fitter and Turner to join their Groceries & Spreads Division based in Molteno. The primary responsibility of this role is the service, repair, and maintenance of all mechanical equipment, including addressing breakdowns. This position reports to the Millwright and follows shift patterns.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintenance and Repair:
  • Service, repair, and maintain all mechanical equipment.
  • Respond to and manage breakdowns on mechanical equipment.
  • Conduct safety inspections and generate reports.
• Development and Upgrades:
  • Engage in research and development to upgrade equipment for improved performance while reducing maintenance costs.
  • Participate in a planned maintenance program.
• Specialized Work:
  • Operate specialized tools to manufacture parts, grind, cut, and shape metal and other raw materials.
  • Repair, maintain, and operate large machinery.
  • Perform regular maintenance on machinery, diagnose and repair any faults.
• Precision Work:
  • Set guides, stops, and other controls for tools; set up prescribed cutting and shaping tools.
  • Monitor fabrication processes, making safe adjustments as necessary.
  • Work with designs, patterns, and blueprints to determine the best materials, machines, and settings to fabricate parts.
• Safety and Compliance:
  • Erect and assemble machines onsite.
  • Strictly adhere to protocols to ensure safety.
  • Conduct quality checks using precise measuring tools.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education:
  • Grade 12.
  • Trade-tested as a Fitter and Turner.
• Experience:
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in Mechanical Maintenance post-qualification.
  • Knowledge of bakery processing equipment is advantageous.
• Skills:
  • Strong mechanical, engineering, and technical skills.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, plans, and diagrams.
  • Hand-eye coordination, practical skills, and physical strength.
  • Good communication, active listening, and analytical skills.
  • Patience, focus, and the ability to perform under pressure.
• Additional Requirements:
  • Pump experience is advantageous.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cutting, threading, bending, and fitting lines and pipes.
